Boldon CA manager David Crumbie has admitted that he is surprised by his side’s impressive start to the Wearside League season.

In-form striker Levi Collins scored twice and former South Shields man Dan Wright was also on target as their side claimed their twelfth win in their opening 13 games with a 3-1 triumph at Norton and Stockton Anicents.

That was enough to help C r u m b i e ’s m e n m o v e 1 2 points clear at the top of the table after a Ewan Foster goal condemned second placed Horden CW to a home defeat against Darlington RA.

The Boldon boss praised his side for their near-perfect start to the season and revealed his delight over the “spirit and attitude” they have shown.

He told The Echo: “The target at the start of the season was to be challenge but I didn’t expect to be doing what we have done.

“There’s so much quality in this league, there really are no easy games, and to have won every game bar one, I never saw that coming.

“We a l ways f a n c y ou r - s e l v e s ; w e h av e qu a l i t y throughout the whole squad, but you never really think this could happen.

“There have been games that have been tighter than the scoreline suggests – but we have the spirit and attitude to come through with the points and we are delighted

to be where we are.”

Fa r r i n g d o n D e t a c h e d produced a late rally to come from two goals down to secure a hard-earned point at Annfield Plain.

The hosts looked well on

their way to only their third win of the season as goals from Callum Lishman and C o l i n S n a i l h a m put th e m firmly in control.

T h at t w o - go a l l e a d re - mained in place until the last

ten minutes when Liam Laidler and Stan Ogunsuyi helped Farringdon battle bac k to claim a share of the spoils.

A Liam Mulvain brace gave Silksworth CW a 2-0 win at Windscale and Coxhoe Ath

letic moved off the bottom of the table as Evan Graham and Joe Johnson found the net in their win at West Auckland Tunns.

Wolviston overturned a half-time deficit to claim a 2-1 win at Gateshead Leam Rangers. Ben Miller put the hosts ahead four minutes before half-time but they were left empty-handed by second-half goals from Jae Wilson and Chris Cotterell.
