RCA manager disappointed with defeat at Vase finalists
Sunderland RCA manager Martin Swales was left disappointed by his side’s narrow defeat at Northern League Division One rivals Consett.
RCA put in a determined display at Belle View before a Dale Pearson goal condemned them to a first defeat in three league games.
Swales praised his players for their performance against the FA Vase finalists, but revealed his disappointment over the result.
He told The Echo: “I think a draw would have been a fair result.
“We went up there with a plan and changed our system to match them.
“We had plenty of chances, as did they, but we were disappointing to not get something from the game.
“They caught us on the c ou nte r - attack , th ei r goa l came from us having the ball in their box.
“We were fantastic, but we have come away with a point.”
Newcastle United-bound Cedwyn Scott continued his impressive form with a brace in Hebburn Town’s 4-0 home win against Northallerton Town.
