Decisions

-

The other night I left the public house where I had been imbibing in some reasonably priced real ales in order to save wasting the stuff before lockdown closed bars and restaurants which account for less than 3% of corona cases but leaving schools and colleges open which, along with workplaces are responsible for the majority of corona cases being spread but as per

usual that is by the by.

I then made my way to the bus drop to settle down for a 30-minute wait after the pubs close as the bus to where I live is one an hour as the bus that goes from where I live to Silksworth is two an hour even though there are other buses to Silksworth from the area.

Anyway the bus duly arrived so I boarded to take a seat, the bus pulled into Park Lane bus station, stopping at the wrong stop for it, where the driver alighted and called a security guard over.

After a brief conversation the security guard walked alongside the bus and started banging on the window.

I looked to where he was banging to see a chap lying against the aforementioned window.

I asked the driver what's going on to which he replied that he'd asked the fellow where he was going, the lad said Silksworth but when the bus arrived at Silksworth he then said he was going to Washington and the driver let him stay on.

The security guard began to bang on the window again prompting me to ask why doesn't he just drag him off.

I was told he's not allowed on the bus so he had to keep banging on the miscreant's window to no avail as he ignored the banging for a further 15 minutes.

The police were called in but the 11.10pm 78A bus turned up so I walked round to that bus, however, while seated on that bus the bus I had left passed me.

Now some years ago a friend of mine caught a different go-ahead bus, ostensibly to get off a

Downhill, but thanks to a slight over indulgence in beer he was woke up by the driver.

When he asked where they were, he got the reply Philly depot so he had quite a walk home which prompted me to ask why didn't the driver do the self-same thing and let the lad decide whether he wanted to be at Silksworth or Washington?
