Daughter's promise for Dean’s calendar

The family of Dean Matthews have vowed to put the photograph­ers “amazing” 2021 calendar back up for sale which had sold out before he lost his life.

Hundreds have paid tribute to the dad who tragically died after testing positive for Covid-19 on November 12.

The community had rallied around to support his grieving family with fundraiser­s set up and charity calendars produced by fe ll ow photograph­ers with funds going to Dean’s wife and children.

D ea n , wh o ha s th ousands of online followers and shares his stunning pictures of the North East with people around the world, produces annual calendars with some of his favourite photograph­s every year.

Before he lost his life, Dean’s calendar had already sold out, but now his family has vowed to put them back up for sale.

Posting on Dean’s photo raphy Facebook page, daughter Megan Matthews said: “As my dad’s calendars had recently sold out before his passing I will be damned if I let such a legend go down. After all of the overwhelmi­ng comments and messages I have received, I have decided to put his amazing 2021 calendars back up for sale due to the popular demand.”

A Just Giving page, set up by fellow photograph­er Liam McCormick, and husband, Michael McGrath, has raised more than £3,500 to go towards a memorial bench along Sunderland’s seafront – with remaining funds going to Dean’s family.
