Events to showcase Riverside masterplan
Public events on ambitious plans for Riverside Sunderland are taking place today.
The next steps to deliver a transformational vision for Sunderland city centre are being shared with residents over two virtual events.
Sunderland City Council is hosting the events to share more information about how the ambitious plans to transform the area into a vibrant new urban quarte r wh e re p e o p l e will live, work and play.
As well as sharing more information on the regene rat i o n p rog ra m m e, th e c ou n c i l w i l l a l s o l o o k at plans for a new footbridge; public realm and digital infrastructure; a proposed multi-storey car park and housing earmarked for the former Vaux Brewery site.
The free events will give people the opportunity to understand the detail behind the Riverside Masterplan.
Cllr Graeme Miller, the leader of Sunderland City Council, said: “We’ve been delighted with the feedback we have had on the Masterplan for Riverside Sunderland, and we’re now keen to move that plan to the next stage and share how we will begin to realise our vision for the area.
“We are a listening council; the Masterplan itself responds to specific feedback from residents about how they want to see their city centre develop.
"This next stage will allow us to take that convers at i o n f u r t h e r, s h a r i n g specific plans so residents understand how we will deliver.”
