Woman behind bars after crime spree in city

A woman who attacked a police officer and burgled a restaurant as part of a spate of offences has been jailed.

Magistrate­s imprisoned Lisa Joanne Bulmer after learning that her crime spree flouted the terms of previous sentences and continued when she was granted bail.

Street, Hen don, S underland, is now beginning more than six months in jail after admitting nine offences.

They include separate assaults on a policewoma­n and a detention officer on February 21, and a burglary at the city’s Nando’s restaurant on November 21, in which she stole an unknown value of sauces, spirits and wine.

Bulmer, 43, also pleaded guilty to stealing £160.65 of meats, vegetables and butter from a Sunderland branch of Lidl on February 21, committing a third attack in the city on July 16 and using threatenin­g or abusive words or behaviour on the same date.

She additional­ly admitted failing to surrender to custody as a condition of her bail on February 28 and November 24, and breaching a 12-month conditiona­l discharge imposed in July after she was convicted of stealing £372 of handbags from the city’s TK Maxx store on February 25.

Bulmer was imprisoned for 16 weeks for the July 16 attack, 12 weeks for the detention officer assault, eight weeks for the burglary and a week because of outstandin­g fines.

She also received concurrent jail terms, to be served as part of the overall 37-week sentence, for three of the remaining offences.

Bulmer,w ho received credit for her guilty pleas, must pay a £128 victim surcharge.
