Cats’ Power is hoping for a swift boss appointment
S u n d e rl a n d c a p t a i n M a x Power is hoping the manager situation at the Stadium of Light can be resolved this week, with Danny Cowley the leading contender.

E x- Hud d e r s f i e l d Tow n boss Cowley is known to have admirers on the Sunderland board and he is a strong contender to be named the new boss on Wearside.
Po w e r i n s i s t s S u n d e r - land can still have a successful campaign as they chase automatic promotion to the Championship.
Reflecting on the 1-1 draw with Burton Albion on Tuesday night, Power said: “I thought you could see the togeth e r n e s s o f th e tea m , working for each other, and we know it wasn’t a good result.
"We have to move on now to Saturday, a game we have to win.
“A l l w e c a n d o i s k e e p goi n g , a n d h o p e f u l l y th e m a n a ge r s i tu at io n c a n b e resolved this week – and we can try and make this season a successful one.”
Andrew Taylor, first team coach, took the game on Tuesday.
Powe r, s p ea k i n g to th e club website, added: “It’s obviously been a difficult few days at the club – it’s never nice when a manager loses his job – and there’s a lot of uncertainty around at the moment.
"H o w e ve r, h u ge c re d i t has to go to Tayls, Nick All a m by a n d But s [ L e e Butler], who have had to take the reins and I’m sure they’re hurting just as much as we are.”
