Horden CW aiming to put frustration behind them in Trophy outing

-

Horden CW assistant manager Lee Bogan wants his side to take out their frustration on Northern Alliance club Gateshead Rutherford this weekend.

The two sides were set to end their four-break from competitive action in the Durham Trophy last weekend – but the tie was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The fixture has now been rearranged for Saturday and

Bogan is relieved to see his side back in action after they suffered a 1-0 home defeat against Darlington RA in their last competitive fixture in late October.

He told The Echo: “The Durham Trophy is our only priority now because we can’t play league football until after Christmas.

“As you can imagine, it’s been a frustrating time. It was even more frustrating that it was called off last week so we just want to take every game as and when we can.

“The lads were buzzing last week, and the level of the training sessions blew us away.

“Knowing the group as I do, they appreciate the game is coming now and they will want to make the most of it.”

Horden are missing the i n j u re d Jo s h Bro o m a n d Chris Bewick and both David

Doughty and Paul Griffiths are suspended.

However, they have received a major boost as Robbie Renwick is available for the first time and Marc Moon is back in contention.

Wearside League rivals Annfield Plain and Coxhoe Athletic face each other at Derwent Park in the only Durham Trophy to take place this weekend.

Athletic midfielder Graham Stephenson will miss out as he serves the second game of a three-match suspension and the hosts could hand a debut to Luke Allison after he joined the club from South Moor during the break.

Elsewhere, Jarrow jointm a n a ge r S c ott O l ive r h a s called on his players to be ready for a battle when they look to make club history against Warrington Rylands this weekend.

The Perth Green club are bidding to reach the third round of the FA Vase for the first time – although they face a sizeable task against a visiting side that have produced some notable results so far this season.

Ryl a n d s w i l l a r r ive o n South Tyneside sat on top of the North West Counties Premier Division table after winning four and drawing one of their five fixtures.
