Bogan tips teenager for bright future

-

Horden CW assistant manager Lee Bogan has tipped young striker Jack Maskall for a “massive future” after he hit a hat-trick in an eventful Durham Trophy win against Gateshead Rutherford.

The former Sunderland trialist plundered his way to a stunning treble as his side came out on the right end of a remarkable 11-goal tie.

John Bowes and McKellen Lines also found the net for Horden – but two secondhalf strikes from 16-year-old Maskall completed his hattrick and gave them a 6-5 win to finally break the resistance of their Northern Alliance visitors.

After the game, a delighted Bogan said: “We know of his potential and we had to promote him and give him a chance.”

He continued: “It was a nobrainer to put him in on Saturday, we gave him a go and he was brilliant throughout the game.

“We are very happy with him and Andy Colledge has managed him very well as a youth player.

“He has huge potential, he has to keep his feet on the ground and do the right things.

“If he keeps doing the right things on and off the pitch, he will have a massive future ahead of him.”
