Retailers like Next, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Matalan have a fantastic selection this year, from matching family sets to gorgeous sequins to fun 3D features. Here’s our pick of the best ...

For children

You could be the cutest Christmas family in the country with matching stag jumpers from Next. The kids’ ones – sizes from nine months up to aged 16, priced £16-£22 – are adorable, in a smart navy colour with a sparkling tartan stag head on the front. The matching women’s and men’s versions are a similar design.

George at Asda has a huge collection of Christmas jumpers this year, including an adorable kids’ snowman one, from aged one to seven. In a festive mint green colour, it’s patterned with multicolou­red snowmen wearing earmuffs and scarves. Priced just £8, it’s hard to say no.

If your child is obsessed with video games, George at Asda is selling the perfect Minecraft Christmas jumper. The game has been transforme­d into a festive garment, in a pea-green colour decorated with video game snowmen and dogs. Priced from £12 and sized from aged four-14, it reads ‘season’s greetings’ and has the Minecraft logo at the top.

Matalan is stocking a cute gnome jumper, priced from £9. The thick, red pullover has spotted sleeves and features a fair-isle print gnome in the middle. The best part? The gnome has dangling braids, a feature guaranteed to make your child love it. There is also a navy boys’ version – sizes for each go from aged one-13.

For the Thomas the Tank Engine fan, look no further than a great festive sweater from TU at Sainsbury’s. Every kid’s favourite train is sewn in the middle of the jumper, adorned with fairy lights. Priced from £12, it has sizes for aged one-five.

For women

Next’s light pink pullover, priced £34 and available up to XL, is ideal for the

festive season thanks to the sequined Christmas tree adorning the front. It’s simple, yet looks good.

A Christmas jumper that’s both cheeky and cute is hard to come by, but TU at Sainsbury’s has the perfect offering this year. This maroon pullover has two Christmas puddings on the front, in a place sure to make the family giggle. Going up to a size 24, it is priced £20.

You can’t go wrong with anything Santa-themed at Christmas time, and George at Asda has just the jumper. The pale blue pullover, which features a Santa face with a soft beard trim, looks comfortabl­e yet cute. Priced £16, it goes up to a size XL.

If Christmas is not really your thing but you still want to get involved with the festive jumper fun, H&M’s jacquard-knit jumper is the perfect one. It’s black, with a fair-isle style print in blue

and white, and the words ‘winter’ and ‘ski’ running around the body and sleeves. It’s understate­d, so could be worn as an everyday jumper, too. And, it’s made from a wool blend, so it’s guaranteed to be cosy. Priced £24,99, it goes up to a size XXL.

For men

If you prefer your Christmas attire more jokey than serious, look no further than Next. The reindeer on the front has a 3D bobble nose, and the writing reads “Xmas cheer”, with room for a beer to fit in the pocket below! Priced £30, it goes up to XXL.

There is a Harry Potter lover in every family, so a Hogwarts-themed Christmas jumper is a must. The blue, black, white and red fair-isle print sweater from Asda has “Christmas at Hogwarts” sewn into the front with an image of the wizarding train. Priced £16, it goes up to a size XXL.
