Taking knee to end racism

- Ged Taylor, Barnes.

Well who would have thought it but Lewis Hamilton has become an extraordinary obsession with so many people on social media of late.

Was it the great British pride and joy they have with his equalling of Michael Schumacher’s seven world titles, well what else could it be, that’s what I thought.

Personally I've always thought Formula One drivers are overpaid pampered kids, funded by their fantastically wealthy families, and I believe driving cars no matter how fast shouldn't be classed as a sport, and should be categorised as a hobby alongside equestrian (for those who’ve never heard of it, its a horsey game for rich people), darts, snooker, and cricket.

But you can't take it away from Lewis, he's very good at driving, albeit he seems to win because he's in the fastest car.

Anyway the main reason for the media onslaught is not about how good he is at driving a car, but the fact he's taking the knee and becoming a bit of a voice for it.

My mate Lav is up in arms about this, he reckons it’s a Marxist endeavour, yeah I had to laugh at that one.

I can just imagine

Lewis Hamilton leaving Monaco to go swanning around the Bolivian jungle in camouflage like Che

Guevara. I pointed out that taking the knee is not a political movement, but a global movement expressing solidarity and support for the victims of racism.

Everyone has the choice, and and that is the beauty of living in a democracy,

"for now" and if he has the inclination he can start up his own taking the knee for whatever lives matter to him if he so chooses, because he can.

“Not too bad for a little 13-year-old schoolgirl from
