STORY:

Would you like to see teaching move online for the remainder of term?

Emma Louise

Wilson: Since it’s already the last week of school this question is being asked a bit late our school is already finishing on Thursday and I know how much the children in my daughters class are looking forward to their Christmas party! It’s been a horrid year for them, it would be wrong to deny them their bit of fun at the end of term!

Lynn Elliott: No. Not enough time to organise childcare for the workers. Children have already missed so much education this year.

Let alone if they have to isolate because of covid. Think about the kids who have got exams next year.

Steve McCormack: As a teacher it’s a definite no from me, the children need to be in school leading as normal a life as possible. Online learning is no where near as effective!

Amy Wilson: Steve McCormack thank god my daughters teachers and school are thinking about the kids

Kathy Haq: They should close for the children where child care is no problem and go back to how they were during the first lockdown where the children of frontline workers were in school and were able to be kept socially distanced while the others were taught online. Its beyond a joke seeing older kids going to and from school in large groups and probably not in their Class Bubbles.

Susan Clementson Payne: Definitely not. Children learn much better at school. On line learning is only for the few who dont have problems concentrating .

Gill Ellis-Peel: No, let the kids have their time in school, it's a nice time of the year for them, they have missed out on enough, let them have the structure ... it's just 5 days more maximum!!

Pauline Walton: No. What’s to gain from it? They’ve had little enough time with their friends this year and have various COVID-friendly events organised for this week. Let them enjoy the next few days. They’ve earned it.

Marie-Therese Brady: No. Parents won't have childcare cover if they work

Christine Mackie: Bit late now they should have closed last week and at least if anyone tests positive they would be over isolation before xmas

Shirley McQuillan: No parents also need time to get organised and the Children have lost too much schooling already...x

Nadine Brooke: There is a week to go, if parents can keep them off then yes but not everyone has the childcare for work etc.
