Johnson seeking Sunderland 'alignment'

-

Lee Johnson is thrilled with the buzz generated by Sunderland’s win over Lincoln City on Saturday, and hopes that supporters have been given an insight into what he is hoping to achieve at the club.

The Black Cats face AFC Wimbledon tonight looking to build momentum after their 4-0 win at Sincil Bank.

Sunderland’s Head Coach welcomes the pressure and rise in expectations that result will bring, and has urged his team to focus on replicating the positive aspects of their performance.

“That's good and I'm very happy that there's a buzz,” Johnson said.

“The fans have got to be allowed to do whatever they want, the fans are the club. If they want to get carried away with the euphoria of a result or a run, then brilliant. If it's a bit more pessimistic, that's OK too. For me, it's so simple in that it's about the process.

“I can't guarantee a scoreline but what I should be able to guarantee is a consistency in the philosophy.

“I was so enthused with the way the players took in the detail and were able to implement it so quickly in what was a difficult game at this level.

“That's very encouraging moving forward but we've got to keep chipping away at that.

“We've just to keep driving away at the performances, making sure the players who didn't start understand why it was a good performance and then when they start speaking the same language as you, you know you’re making progress.”

The win at Lincoln was crucial for Johnson as he tries to overhaul the club’s playing philosophy. He hopes the performance gave a fans an insight into what he is trying to achieve.
