'Fans really need clarity': RAWA call for update
The Red and White Army have called for clarity regarding the proposed takeover of Sunderland AFC.
Along with other supporters’ groups, RAWA were set to meet with club officials last month for a scheduled structured dialogue meeting. But that meeting was postponed owing to the ‘advancement and sensitivity’ of takeover talks at the Stadium of Light.
It was later revealed that Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and Juan Sartori were in advanced talks over a deal to purchase a majority shareholding in Sunderland. The club are yet to publicly comment on the ongoing takeover talks.
But in a brief statement posted on social media, RAWA have called for clarity over the ongoing uncertainty over the club’s ownership.
They said: “We've again chased SAFC for an official update on the potential takeover & to rearrange the postponed meeting. We've provided the "breathing space" so fans can't be accused of having a negative impact on a potential takeover. But with rumours abound, fans really need clarity now.”
*AFCWimbledonbossGlyn Hodges is demanding a reaction from his players at Sunderland after ‘folding’ in their heavyweekenddefeattoCharlton Athletic.
Charlton ran out 5-2 winners, which led Hodges to criticise his players in the aftermath. Hodges said: ”I just thought that we weren’t prepared for the second-half.
“I tried to warn them – you are not going to come to Charlton for a fierce London derby against a side relegated from the Championship, and expect an easy 45 minutes. After they got their two goals in quick succession the writing was on the wall. We didn’t acquit ourselves and we folded too easily.”
