The Government announced new tier restrictions for some parts of England yesterday – but when will the tiers next be reviewed?

After the first announcement, the Government said it would review the tier system in two weeks, and then “regularly” after that.

An emergency review took place on the weekend of December 12 and 13 which saw Essex and London moved from Tier 2 to Tier 3.

It is now being reported that the next national review will take place in the New Year.

Tier levels are being decided by central Government based on five factors, which include: Infection rate overall

Infection rate among the over 60s; Rate at which cases are rising or falling; NHS pressure in the local area; Positive test rate (as a percentage of all tests carried out).
