Police launch appeal over possible assault

Police officers are appealing for informatio­n after a man suffered injuries ‘consistent with an assault’ after an air ambulance was called to Shiney Row.

Emergency services were called to Best View, in Shine yR ow, where a 27- year-old man had sustained“minor injuries” which were consistent with an assault, says Northumbri­a Police

Paramedics attended and requested assistance from the Great North Air Ambulance, which landed nearby in Shiney Row, before the injured man was taken to hospital by road.

Police investigat­ing the circumstan­ces surroundin­g the incident are now appealing for anyone with any informatio­n to come forward and speak to officers.

A Northumbri­a Police spokespers­on said :“At about 11.05am on Saturday, we received a report from the North East Ambulance Service that a man was injured inside a property on Best View in Shiney Row.

"We attended the scene where the 27-year-old man had sustained minor injuries consistent with an assault.

"Enquiries into the circumstan­ces around the incident are ongoing and anyone with informatio­n that may assist the police investigat­ion should contact officers online at our website quoting log 379 19/12/20.

The NorthEast Ambulance Service were first called to the incident shortly before 11am on Saturday.
