Inquest into teen’s road death

A final inquest hearing date has been agreed for a teenage girl who died a week after she was involved in a collision on a busy Sunderland road.

Alisha Webster was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle following the incident on Wessington Way shortly after 4.30pm on February 19, last year.

The road was closed off until after midnight that day as inquiries were launched into the crash, which happened while she was on foot and also involved a car.

Northumbri­a Police later confirmed the 15-yearold had died on February 25, as a result of her injuries.

On Wednesday an opening hearing of her inquest washeardat­NewcastleC­oroner’s Court, which is based at the city’s civic centre.

The hearing was adjourned until January 14
