STORY: High street pharmacies have offered to help give covid vaccines, but the government has declined their help. Thomas Roffe: My local chemist at Newton Hall carried out me and my wife’s flu jab no problems whatsoever, perfect service, well organised.

Peter Cresswell: Has no-one considered that there might be serious concerns about the possibilit­y of anti vaxxers and covid deniers causing disruption at pharmacies and supermarke­ts if the vaccine was being given in so many far flung locations?

Graeme Wharton: Post the vaccine out and we'll do ourselves, job sorted.

Colquhoun: There are delays in releasing the vaccines as every batch must be quality and safety checked before release. Better to be safe than sorry for the sake of a few day’s delay.
