Discount retailer to open huge new store

-

A popular Sunderland store is on the move – but not very far.

Discount retailer B & M has announced that it will be moving one of its Sunderland outlets to a significantly bigger and better site.

Following feedback from regular shoppers that they wanted a bigger shop and wider range of products, the discount retail giant yesterday confirmed the Pal lion shop will be moving into the former Dunelm Mill store on the same Pallion Retail Park.

Dunelm closed its Pallion store after 17 years in August and has moved to new premises on the other side of the River Wear at North Hylton Retail Park.

The current B&M store at Pallion will shut for the final time at the end of the month on Saturday, January 30, but customers will not have long to wait as the new site will open its doors a week later at 9am on Saturday, February 6.

The new outlet will be almost double the size with over 33,000 sq. ft. of sales space set across two floors, offering bargain grocery, cleaning products, toiletries, toys, homeware and DIY supplies.

The new outlet will also have a garden centre.

The opening is set to create new jobs in store.

A spokesman for B&M said: “We wanted a bigger and better store for our customers, giving them even more big branded products.

“We hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.

"We’ re really excited to get the doors open next month.”
