The online consultation on the plans ends this Tuesday, January 12.

Under the Public Spaces Protection Order introduced in 2019, the council already has the power to give advice, formal warni n g s o r i s sue a £ 7 5 f i xe d penalty notice to anyone breaking the current rules a rou n d a l c o h o l c o ntro l , dog control, the use of legal highs in public places and anti social behaviour linked to street trading.

C o u n c i l l e a d e r, C l l r Graeme Miller, said: "What came across in our Let's Talk consultation is that the environment is a top priority for our residents who want to live in a clean green city. "So this is about focusing on the concerns that impact on the quality of life of our residents and getting their v i e w s o n wh at they think we should be doing to toughen up our current enforcement powers.

"We re a l l y wa nt re s i - dents to tell us if they're in favour of the current measu re s a n d wh eth e r th ey would like to see further action to control issues such as dogs on beaches and dog fouling, and using motorbikes and quad bikes on footpaths and bridle ways.”
