What Labour has done

-

John Rhind. Sent via email.

It was with some amusement I read Susan Watson's recent letter in the Echo asking: "what has Labour done for me?"

The answer is quite simple.

Does she not think that setting up the National Health Service, the Welfare State or the massive council house-building programme after the Second World

War worthy of any praise?

How about The Equal

Pay Act or the world’ s first Climate Change Act etc.?

She went on to say she had "huge respect for all members of the Royal Family".

Can I ask a question for Susan: Does this blanket respect pertain to Prince Andrew and, if it does, can she explain why?

Also, it would appear she thinks Boris Johnson delivered the Brexit vote. Let's be clear, that mastermind was Dominic Cummins.

Susan also fails to understand that the role of the opposition is to hold the Cabinet to account and, not as she would wish, to act as cheerleaders.

She next extols the virtues of Boris’ response to Covid-19 and asks the question "could Starmer have done this?"

We'll never know but I'm quite sure Starmer would not have spent £22bn on a failed Track and Trace programme.

Finally, I do hope that Boris’ latest boast of vaccinating 14 million people by mid-February is actually achieved for once, but who knows?

I wouldn't bet my life on it but, since I'm in Group

4, I probably am since the vaccine is the only thing that will save us from Johnson's "world-beating" ineptitude.
