One taken to hospital with wound
A person was taken to hospital with a ‘serious chest wound’ after an emergency services call-out to a Sunderland street.
Teams were called to the Westheath Avenue area of Grangetown on Saturday morning.
Witnesses say there was a large police presence in the area and a section of the street was said to be cordoned off by officers throughout Saturday and into Sunday morning.
A spokeswoman for the North East Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 7.07am on Saturday to reports of a person with a serious chest wound near Westheath Avenue in Sunderland. We dispatched an ambulance, a hazardous area response team and requested support from a Great North Air Ambulance doctor and transported one patient to hospital.”
