Cannabis farm found in property
Police are investigating after hundreds of cannabis plants were discovered at a drug farm in Sunderland on New Year’s Day.
Officers were called to Woodbine Street at around 6.30pm on January 1, following reports of suspicious activity at a former commercial property.
Inside the premises police found a cannabis farm with about 500 plants. The drugs have been seized by police and the farm was dismantled.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: ““Officers attended the address and inside located a cannabis farm with about 500 plants at various stages of growth. An investigation has been launched to identify those involved.”
