Pantomime rhyme time

-

The theatre wanted extras for the panto in our town

It's the one that has a beanstalk, giant and Jack I got through the audition met some actors of renown

And my part was to stay at the back.

They needed folk as villagers to help fill the scene

For two months I rehearsed this silent part

After two months doing nothing I wasn't quite so keen So I learned all talking actor's scripts by heart.

I thought if someone drops out, their shoes I then could fill

With the audience I'd soon become a wow

On dress rehearsal night a poor chap became so ill My part is now the rear end of a cow.

Scott Andrews, Ryhope.
