The former Steels Engineering site, on the city’s Leechmere Industrial Estate now available for new development.
Formerly the operational base for Steels Engineering, the site has lain dormant for a number of years.
The Leechmere Industrial Estate has remained popular due to its ready access to Sunderland and the A19 and vacancy rates on the estate are extremely low.
Malcolm Holmes of ABP Property Consultants, who are theselling agents, said: “The opportunity this site offers is unrivalled in Sunderland east of the A19.
“Very few similar sites will become available in the near future, as the old industrial areas are being repurposed for housing.
"This site lends itself to a full range of industrial uses and may also assist the city council in relocating businesses affected by their various regeneration proposals.”
Since being acquired by new owners in 2015, the site has been the subject of a range of demolition and reinstatement upgrades and has now been made ready for new development.
Mr Holmes added: “A sixacre site with the locational advantages that exist on this site is almost unique.
"Being within an established industrial and comm e rc i a l a rea ad d s to th e attraction and should help Su n d e rl a n d C i ty C ou n c i l achieve further inward investment and job creation.
"We expect the site to attract considerable interest and are very hopeful that a sale can be achieved in 2021.”
