Nobody else involved in man’s death
Police have said there was no third party involvement in connection with the death of a man who was found in the River Wear.
Officers were called to Lion Place in Sunderland at around 11.20am on Saturday, January 9, after the grim discovery.
An investigation was launched to establish the circumstances around the death, but police have since confirmed they do not believe there to be any third party involvement.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "The man has since been identified and his next of kin informed. They are currently being supported by specialist officers.
“There is not believed to be any third party involvement and a report will be made for the coroner.”
