Cardiff see swoop for Sanderson rejected

Cardiff City have seen a move for Sunderland loanee Dion Sanderson rejected – according to reports.

Sanderson, who joined the Black Cats on a season-long loan deal in the summer transfer window, spent part of the 2019/20campaign­onloanwith theBluebir­dsandimpre­ssedin the second tier.

And the Daily Mail claim that Cardiff approached Wolves over the possibilit­y of Sanderson returning to South Wales this month.

The report states that Neil Harris’ side asked the Premier League outfit if they would be prepared to cut-short the 21-year-old’s loan stint at the Stadium of Light before then sending him back on loan to Cardiff. But that approach has been rejected, with Cardiff now turning their attentions to Crewe Alexandra defender PerryNg–whoreports­suggest has already been the subject of a £250,000 bid from the Bluebirds.

Sanderson has struggled for regular game time since joining Sunderland and was an unused substitute at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

*Sunderland forward Lynden Gooch has tested positive for Covid-19. The 25-yearoldret­urnedaposi­tiveresult­in the EFL’s now regular round of testing on Friday.

Gooch missed the 3-0 win overAFCWim­bledon,buthead coach Lee Johnson said that he is so far asymptomat­ic. No other positive results were returned at the club in the latest round of testing.

“Lynden was a positive test for Covid-19. It's obviously frustratin­gforusandh­imashe was completely asymptomat­ic,” said Johnson. “We're frustrated because he had done so well in the Port Vale game and he hasn't had the chance to really build up a head of steam.”
