Blue Monday delivers takeaway discount treat for new customers

-

An online delivery service is aiming to put a smile on the faces of fast food fans whose freedom has been severely curtailed by lockdown.

On January 18, dubbed Blue Monday at it is officially the most depressing day of the year, Foodhub is offering 21 per cent off all orders placed by new customers via the app or website until midnight.

Customers can choose from a huge range of international cuisines such as Chinese, Indian or classic fish ’n’ chips.

A discount of 21 per cent will be provided to all orders on Foodhub, simply input code BLUE21 and enjoy a tasty treat at your feet!

There is no minimum order (restaurants may provide their own minimum order value), takeaways may have their own individual discount codes and the offer is for one use per customer.

With demand for takeaways soaring during lockdown, Foodhub is reminding people that orders may take a little longer than normal to arrive.

The online portal covers a wide selection of takeaways in your area.

Foodhub prides itself that its customers save money when ordering through their app compared to other delivery services, even if the meal is coming from the same takeaway.

The saving is because Foodhub don’t charge a service fee and often have exclusive offers with their partner eateries.

Foodhub runs competitions and prize draws for its customers who can also take advantage of discount codes which pop up on its app.

Blue Monday typically falls on the third Monday in January, regarded as the most depressing day because people are feeling the financial strain of the festive season.

They may be struggling to shift the extra weight that they have gained over Christmas and a cold, dark winter morning won’t help lift the sombre mood.

The phrase was coined by the now defunct holiday company Sky Travel which based it on calculations such as how long since the last pay day, the days until the next bank holiday and the average hours of daylight during the month.

Last year, the Samaritans tried to lift the mood of commuters on Blue Monday by handing out cups of tea at Edinburgh’s Waverley Station and encouraging them to share a cuppa with someone in their office who may be feeling lonely.
