Online star Sharky backs ‘genuine sites’ campaign

-

Online comedian and presenter Sharky is backing the UK creative industry in Get It Right campaign encouraging fans of TV, films, music, sports, games and eBooks to get the content they love from genuine sites.

Sharky has amassed a large and loyal following across YouTube, Instagram and TikTok with his comedy sketches, prank videos, challenges and sports content with top athletes including Jack Grealish and Anthony Joshua, after finding fame with his football related content.

As a creator himself and a major fan of sports, music and film, Sharky encourages 16 to 24 years-olds to support all the content that has got them through a tough year, by getting it from genuine sites.

His new film documents Sharky’s lockdown love affair with great content. We see how this year has brought him closer to the people he loves, on screen.

He pays homage to the incredible films, TV, music and sports that have been, and will help him get through many more lockdown hours in future weeks.

The New Year is a time for big new TV and film releases.

The campaign from Get It Right aims to encourage fans to support those in the creative industries that produce the content they love by using the right, genuine sites.

Intellectual property industries, such as film, music, television and computer software, are central to the health and stability of the UK economy. The UK’s creative industry supports around

2.8 million UK jobs each year, contributes about £18 billion in exports around the world and about £10 million per hour to the UK economy.

This new campaign builds on previous Get It Right consumer education initiatives that go back to 2015, including recent campaigns with Munya Chawawa and Krept and Konan this summer. All aim to demonstrate the positive impact that the industries have on so many and encourage people to support them by sourcing the content

they love safely.

As a social media personality, Sharky creates content himself and as part of the Beta Squad alongside fellow creators Chunkz, Niko Omilana, Aj Shabeel and

King Kenny. He is well known for his comedy work, FIFA gameplay videos and sports presenting, which has led to appearances on Sky Sports.

Sharky said: “While I won’t be taking a break from making videos over the next few weeks – any down time I have will be filled with great sport, films, TV and music. I already know which Premier League games I’ll be tuning into over the next few weeks.

“All of this great content has helped get me and many others through a tough year, and it will continue to do so. The best way to give back to the people that make it happen

for us, is to get it from a genuine site.”

A spokesperson for Creative Content UK, who back the Get It Right campaign, added: “Having been a lifeline for many a year, great content is sure to play a big part in 2021.

“This year has presented real challenges for the creative industry, as it has for other sectors too. We cannot wait to see all the new releases next year, where production will have navigated these unusual circumstances. After all that hard work and value it has brought to us, it’s more important than ever to get it right from a genuine site.

“The UK creative industry provides joy for so many, and is vital for the UK economy, so it’s important that we give back to the creators.”
