Thief stole £9k from his relatives

A thief who stole £9,000 from two members of his own family has been jailed for a “serious breach of trust”.

CraigThoma­sMurrayplu­ndered one Sunderland relative’s account on 64 occasions overasix-weekperiod­tofleece him of £6,600 after obtaining his bank details for an agreed online transactio­n.

Healsostol­eanother£2,410 from a second relative over a three-week period by spendingth­esumonline­inhername.

South Tyneside Magistrate­s’Courtjaile­dMurrayfor­a year after judging the offences to be “a serious breach of trust of close family”.

Murray, 30, of Gretna Terrace,Gateshead,pleadedgui­lty toboththef­ts.Thecourt,which jailedhimf­or26weeksf­oreach offence, also ordered him to pay compensati­on of £700 and £300.
