Rule change to create more job opportunit­ies

A jobs scheme to get young people into work is being changed in a bid to offer more opportunit­ies.

The Government has announced it is dropping the minimumjob­sthreshold­inthe employment­Kickstarts­cheme –aimedatget­tingfirmst­ooffer six-monthworkp­lacementst­o 16to24-year-oldswhoare­inreceipt of Universal Credit.

From February 3, it is droppingth­erequireme­ntforfirms to create a minimum of 30 jobs in the hope of encouragin­gmorebusin­essestojoi­nthe scheme.

Since then, the £2billion schemehasc­reatedmore­than 120,000 jobs.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak said: "Young people are amongtheha­rdesthitin­times like these, which is why we're doing everything we can to ensure they're not left without hope and opportunit­y.”
