Vaccine boost for North East as region's Nightingale Hospital in Sunderland launches as mass vaccination site
Gary Duncan: They didn’t need the Nightingales in the end because people died in hospital or at home. These extra ‘hospitals’ would’ve turned into morgues if they’d been used, due to the simple fact there were no doctors or ventilators. Maybe they would’ve been staffed by soldiers with guns who would keep the public out in the event of mass deaths. Who knows? Now they’re saying they’ll use them to mass vaccinate, yet we all know the vaccine is in short supply. Sounds like another publicity stunt to keep us all hopeful and hanging on. It’s madness!
Del Ramsay: It’s all propaganda they might say they were going to use them but they lied to us on a massive scale. They had 50k ex NHS staff who volunteered to work these Nightingale hospitals and this government only used 5k of them. It’s smoke and mirrors.
Samantha Jayne Mcqueen: I for one am pleased they were built and even more pleased they were not needed for Covid patients. It’s a great idea to use them as vaccination centres as the vaccination program will be going on at least most of this year so using schools/Health centres/ pharmacy’s etc will become unsustainable when normal life begins to resume. And regarding staff to work there,
NHS Professionals has thousands of staff country wide trained, Checked and ready to work.
Jane Starr: Strange altogether. Also if we have been so efficient with the vaccine rollout as compared to the rest of the country abs are allegedly being given less why open this facility now
Jean Lumley: Why don’t they use the walk in centres there’s plenty of them plus easier to get to
Louise Hall: Yip be there today to get mine
Diane Smith: I wondered the same thing.
Val McLane: They dont have the staff for it. The Tories got rid of loads of staff in readiness for privatisation.
Steven Jeffries: It was always going to be use for this purpose!
Elaine Johnson: Not the easiest place to get to though. Especially on a bus
