‘Hire and fire’ anger
Unions bosses are calling for the Government action to outlaw controversial "fire and rehire" practices in the workplace.

A survey found almost oneinfive18to24-year-olds saytheiremployerhastried to rehire them on inferior terms – and black and ethnicminorityworkersarealmost twice as likely to face the practice.
Oneinfourof2,200people surveyed said they had experienced a downgrading of their terms during the Covid-19 crisis.
TUC general secretary FrancesO'Gradysaid:"Everyonedeservestobetreated with dignity and respect at work. Forcing people to reapplyfortheirjobsonworse terms and conditions is plain wrong.”
