Mark, Daliso and Laura Zoom in on comedy gigs

-

Atheatre is taking its comedy shows online with three virtual gigs. Rather than postpone, Chorley Theatre is presenting acts via Zoom.

Anyone anywhere can enjoy shows that will see artists and venues still receive an income during lockdown.

And you can bring your own alcohol!

As a thank you for sticking with the theatre, if you buy tickets for one of these shows you get one free for another, as well as 20 per cent off their next live appearance.

Email hello@impatientproductions.com once you’ve booked one.

Technical details will be sent nearer the time but all you’ll need to watch is Zoom app, not even needing an account.

The three gigs are ...

Mark Watson, Saturday

January 30, 8pm

In 2017, Mark Watson – a man prone to considerable anxiety, with multiple phobias and a history of poor self-esteem – was asked to go on Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls.

It really was not for him at all because his favourite things include safety, comfort, food and not being scared and miserable.

But the experience changed the shambolic comedian for the better, and now he’s written a sort of motivational talk about what it taught him.

But still with jokes!

Mark has made occasional appearances on BBC Two’s comedy panel show Mock The Week.

He has also been a panellist on BBC music quiz show Never Mind The Buzzcocks four times – once as guest captain, once as presenter – in addition to appearing on the topical panel show Have I Got News for You.

Mark has appeared on the popular BBC panel shows Would I Lie to You? and QI as well as multiple appearances on panel show debate programme Argumental.

Tickets cost £15 with percentage to the theatre.

February 28, 7.30pm

Finalist of Britain’s Got Talent and star of BBC Radio 4’s Citizen of Nowhere Daliso Chaponda is back out of the house and on a stage with a new hour of the slickest, sharpest look at life.

It’s fair to say that 2020 did not go to plan for Daliso.

But he’s been performing online daily to millions of viewers, this is your first chance to see what this master of satire has been cooking up.

Chaponda has said in interviews that he admires many standup comedians, but has been most influenced by humorous authors such as George Bernard Shaw and Roald Dahl.

Tickets cost £15 with percentage to the theatre.

Laura Lexx, Friday,

March 12, 8pm

Star of Live at the Apollo (BBC Two) and Hypothetical (Dave), “tour-de-force” (Telegraph) Laura Lexx shines a light on how hard it is to be a good person these days.

Why don’t we just leave each other alone and get on with the big stuff?

Following a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe, which earned her a prestigious Comedian’s Choice Award for the second year in a row, Lexxnow takes on society’s big issues such as social media, mental health, climate change and conceiving.

But come for the jokes, not answers!

Laura landed a book deal after a series of tweets during e lockdown imagining life with Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp.

Tickets cost £12 with percentage to the theatre.

Chorley Theatre is run entirely by volunteers.
