More than 250 covid patients in hospital
Latest figures show 251 Covid patients are being treated by South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust as a further 147 people test positive for the virus in the city.
NHS England confirmed yesterday that a further 907 people, who tested positive for tCCovid-19havedied,bringing the total number of confirmed reporteddeathsinhospitalsin England to 69,801.
Patientswereagedbetween 25 and 104 years old. All except 33(aged46to102yearsold)had known underlying health conditions.
Deaths are recorded as Covid-19 related where a person has died within 28 days of a positive test.
Across the UK yesterday it was announced that 28,680 more people have tested positive for Coronavirus, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 3,743,734.
