Appeal launched for more Covid champs
More people are being sought to help share public health messages and keep residents safe from Covid-19.
Sunderland City Council is on the lookout for more ‘Covid champions’ who will help communicate important updates and local and national guidance with their local communities.
Since its launch at the end of 2020, more than 180 people from across the city have signed up to help.
Everyone who signs up will be provided with important updates and key messages to share through their own networks, helping ensure their communities have the information they need to help them stay safe through regular communication with the council’s public health team.
Gerry Taylor, Executive Director of Public Health and Integrated Commissioning at Sunderland City Council, said: "Sunderland is full of wonderful people and groups who have worked hard all year to support each other through this most challenging of times.
"With information and guidance changing frequently we are always looking at new ways to get the latest information out to the communities who need it.
"The Covid Champion programme will build on our existing networks and provide a regular forum to share the latest information as well as helping us gain a better understanding from our communities of the support and information they need."
