A true fan

Last week sadly saw the passing of Eddie Oyston, a life long Sunderland supporter and a true friend.

In the past Eddie was heavily involved in helping players and managers at SAFC with travel, and together with his wife Freda were also involved with the SAFC Disabled Branch.

They spent many voluntary hours organising home and away trips, whether it be midweek or weekend games.

I, along with my son Barry, met Eddie and Freda at a Bradford away game in 1987 and from that moment we became friends, always meeting up before games where we would swap stories about the club, team, past and present players.

We'll miss those times. Sincere condolences to Freda and the family. A true supporter.
