Jones leaves on loan deal – with more set to follow
Middlesbrough winger Isaiah Jones has joined Scottish Championship side Queen of the South on loan until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old has been part of Boro’s senior squad this campaign and made his first-team debut after coming off the bench in an FA Cup tie at Brentford earlier this month.
Jones joined Boro from non-league side Tooting and Mitcham in 2019 and was loaned out to Scottish side St Johnstone last season.
Queen of the South boss Allan Johnston told the club’s website: “Isaiah has had some experience of Scottish football with a brief loan spell at St Johnstone.
"He is an attacking midfielder who can score goals so he will fit into our style of play. He is at an age where he will benefit from playing games, so hopefully it will work out well for all concerned.
"He is highly rated and attracted a lot of attention from several clubs before moving to the North East so I am looking forward to working with him.
"We would like to thank Middlesbrough for allowing the move to happen”.
Boro have plans to send more of their younger players out on loan before Monday’s transfer deadline, including winger Sam Folarin.
"We are talking to two or three clubs about them," said Boro boss Neil Warnock, when asked about sending more players out on loan.
“We are prepared to let them go out until the end of the season just to toughen them up a little.
“If they can’t get a League Two club, I don’t think it really matters if they go nonleague because that’s a tough league as well.”
