Vaccinating domestic animals, including pet dogs and cats, against Covid-19 may be necessary in the future, scientists have warned. Coronavirus is capable of infecting a wide range of species, meaning there is a significant risk of transmission to humans without vaccination.

Debbie Quinn: Dont you mean vets are saying it so they can boost their finances???,,, whatevers next, maybe you need to get your pet goldfish vaccinated !?!? jesus man way to fill up the rehoming centres and pets put to sleep for no reason. Don't let anyone from outside your home pet your animal simple as.

Clare Tighe: Totally agree. I'm not getting it as I don't trust it either chuck xxx.

Joyce Nemeth: More money for vets .Prices are shooting up as it is.

Stephen Fox: Few months down the line, they’re going to say domesticated animals are the driving force behind covid infections and death, those pets that aren't vaccinated have to be culled. Pets give comfort, joy and happiness to people, the government would love to take that away from people anyway they can.

Liam Cummins: My pet spider hasn’t moved out the corner its in for a week now. He has covid and he’s self isolating.

Davie Big-Fella Walton:

Is this coming from the same 'experts' & 'scientists' that told us that animals cant get covid or carry the virus at the start of the pandemic ?

Alison Naylor: No way I'd put my cat down the only time she goes out is in the summer when we sit in the garden. And that isn't often.

Joan Bulmer: I thought animals couldn't get the virus?

Hannah Louise Clark: If they come after the bunnies Jasper says no.

Peter Cresswell: Did anyone actually read the article? It says that we might have to develop vaccines for domestic animals to mitigate against the possibility of a new strain developing and crossing back into the human population. It's part of a sensible discussion about ways to avoid the world being plunged into this situation again! What is it with people jumping in with both feet before actually thinking about what is being said?
