Three more Covid-related deaths are confirmed

Three more deaths have been confirmed at the main hospital trust serving Sunderland.

The number of Covid19-related fatalities at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation trust now stands at 814 following the release of new figures yesterday by NHS England.

Deaths are recorded as Covid-19 related where a person has died within 28 days of a positive test.

No statistics exist publicly to confirm where patients were treated.

Nationally, a further 537 people who tested positive for coronaviru­s have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 74,786.

Patients were aged between 15 and 100. All except 21 (aged 45 to 98) had known underlying health conditions.

South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust announced three Covid-related deaths yesterday, bringing the total number of deaths at the trust to 814.

In Sunderland, there were 128 new cases of coronaviru­s on February 3. The total number of cases since March is 19,108, according to data from Public Health England. Sunderland’s weekly case rate is 327.3 per 100,000 people. The total number of cases recorded in seven days is 909.

Data for the most recent five days has been excluded as it is incomplete and may not reflect the true number of cases.

There are currently 206 coronaviru­s patients in hospital, 11 of them on ventilatio­n.

The total admissions is 3,082, based on the latest available informatio­n.
