Happy times
The garden is quite dejected now
And winter's really here, Everything's been clipped and pruned
The end of another year. To see the garden now It really seems quite sad, As my inner eye reminds me Of the happy times we had. Those lovely balmy summer days
That sturdy blow-up pool, The children in and out of it Splashing round and keeping cool.
The oak tree which once held a rope
Still stands so tall and strong, The children never seemed to tire of it
And used it all day long.
The sandpit placed beneath the tree
Which provided endless fun. Has now been cleared away It's usefulness all done. A night-time treat on warmer nights
Children sleeping in the tent, With lots of giggles and midnight treats
All thoughts of sleep soon went.
And so I take another look And tarry for just a while, As memories come flooding back
I cannot help but smile.
