Thinking of Capt Tom

-

Slow your steps our hero captain, walk now toward the light,

Leave us behind the better For you helping us to fight the daily battle with a virus

That takes us when it can, It has no discrimination any woman... any man.

Your gentle smile and dignity Showed us the wisdom of your years, you helped us through our dark days made us smile despite our fears. You raised so much for the people

Who are selfless in their cause, the people who each Thursday, we thanked with our applause.

So when our heads go down When we cannot find our

way, we will think of you and hear your voice

"Tomorrow will be a good day!”

Scott Andrews, Ryhope.

The Kent variant of covid is predicted to become the world’s most dominant strain.

Brian Thubron:

So why isn't there a real lock down? People are still going to work. Heavy traffic still during rush hours. The only difference is the pubs closed!

Kaye Sanders:

People just need to do the right thing stay at home, protect the NHS, we have the best health service in the world so do the right thing.

Christine Hall: I wish they would.

Neil Foster:

Sorry but I have to go to work and so do millions of others!

Karen Jackson:

There are more than nhs that need protecting, a lot of key workers dealing with the public daily.

Isabelle Collinson:

True but if keyworkers catch it & end up poorly they end up hospitalised.

Susan Walker:

Social care staff just as much at risk. Not forgetting shop workers etc.

Julie Allan: Need proper lock down like the first, no factory open no builder’s yards sites etc builders in people's homes but government needs to help these individuals when they’re in lock down.

STORY:

Bristol covid variant “could still infect people who have been vaccinated”.

Sandra Johnson:

So put simply the multi millions spent on the different types of vaccines is a waste of money. Already we are told if you’ve had your jab still observe mask etc. what’s the point. We are under martial law and will be in lockdown forever!

STORY:

Matt Hancock says he’s doing “everything he can” to allow summer holidays.

Paul Emerson:

If we can’t go on holiday within the UK in the summer then something has seriously gone wrong. Remember Covid is highly seasonal in the UK like any respiratory virus, it went to very low levels for the summer til September. Last summer we had no vaccine and only a small proportion of people who had already been infected and we could go all over the UK.
