Takeover plans are ‘exciting’ says Aiden

-

Aiden McGeady says Kyril Louis-Dreyfus’ takeover plans mean it is an ‘exciting’ time for the Sunderland dressing room.

The billionaire has been on Wearside over the last week and was in attendance as the Black Cats blew aside Doncaster Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

Now McGeady - who is one of the longest-serving members of the club’s playing squad – is hopeful that the imminent takeover of the club by Louis-Dreyfus will put an end to the takeover speculation that has shrouded the club in recent years.

And the 34-year-old says he feels the club are in need of the ‘long-term vision’ with the prospective new owner is looking to provide.

"Of course it's exciting,” said McGeady, when quizzed on the takeover.

"Ever since I've been here, there's been rumours of takeovers every single month.

"Every two or three months there's a new person taking over - from Ellis Short to Stewart Donald to the new young guy Kyril.

"I think hopefully if that goes through, he's got a vision.

"He's got a long-term vision for the club which is what I think this club needs.”

Louis-Dreyfus has agreed terms on a deal with Stewart Donald that will see him take a majority shareholding in the Black Cats.

The deal is still awaiting EFL approval but hopes remain high that the deal will be confirmed soon – with Louis-Dreyfus set to become chairman once the green light is given.

Reports have also suggested that he will move to the North East once the takeover is completed.
