'Horrific' mess left behind by shattered sledges as shards of plastic are left scattered across Sunderland park

Sean Meyers: I’ve never known so many sleds get discarded.. even the slope I went with my daughter, was the same there.. regardless, people need to just learn to take their own rubbish home..

Hester Rose: We picked a one up that was making its way into the pond at Herrington Park there was a bin right opposite literally took us 2 mins to pick ip and drop in bin so why can't others do the same

Audrey Brand: The only way you will solve the problem of people leaving rubbish is to fine them , give them a chance to take it away , because let’s face it , most kids will be with their parents ! Another thing , we do not have enough outside bins , for some reason they have been taken away !

And kids learn from their parents !

Christine Murphy:

Sledges must be made rubbish today to have that many broken should last for years still no excuse to leave them behind x

June Wintrip: Well done Becca,Michael and Sasha what a great job you did but this shouldn't have been left in the first place.

Katie Bell: And we are supposed to vote to not let our poor dogs onto the beach anymore?! Want to start with humans first...if you can take a sledge to a hill, just take it back home to use again next year. If it breaks, bin it, it’s really not hard

Laura Nellie Bell:

I think this is a perfect depiction of how changing the times/ ways that dogs can go onto our beaches won't make a single bit of difference to the dog mess people have been complaining to the council about x

Colleen Comb:

Disgusting, what about any poor animal'saround, they could hurt themselves. Just pure laziness and inconsideration

Robert Austin:

Absolutely no respect for the place they have used typical of this generation it’s just like when the air show is on can’t be bothered to put rubbish in a bin

John Greenwood:

Comments man get a grip of yourself kids been stuck in the house for the last 6 weeks what’smoreimportant kids mental health or a few broken poxy sledge’s
