Eight more patients sadly die from virus

A further 92 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed across Wearside as eight patients sadly die at South Tyneside andSunderl­andNHSFoun­dation Trust after testing positive for the illness.

NHS England confirmed yesterday that a further 522 people, who tested positive for the coronaviru­s have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitalsi­nEnglandto­80,115.

Patients were aged between 24 and 103 years old. All except 20 (aged 33 to 91 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

Deaths are recorded as Covid-19 related where a person has died within 28 days of a positive test.

Across the UK yesterday it was announced that 12,718 more people have tested positive for coronaviru­s, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 4,071,185.

Number of deaths announced on February 17: 8; Total number of deaths at the trust: 879.
