‘The least I can do to give something back’
DONATING VITAL plasma is “the simplest thing in the world” according to one of the region’s top donors.
Jason Crescenti has made 20 plasma donations to date, since being treated with coronavirus at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital last March.
“After spending ten days in bed with what I thought was flu, my wife arranged a video consultation with the GP.
“Within a couple of minutes the doctor made the decision to call an ambulance,” he explained. “After the week I had in hospital, I would do anything to help anybody with this disease,” continued the 53-year-old retired engineering manager. It’s a horrible and devastating thing to go through for patients and families. After the excellent care I received, it’s the least I can do to give something back.
“I would say to anyone donating is the simplest thing in the world. It doesn’t hurt. Giving up a couple of hours of your time is insignificant compared to benefits your plasma can do to help others.”
