Coronaviru­s claims one more life at city Trust

One further patient has sadly died at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust after testing positive for Covid-19.

NHS England confirmed yesterday that a further 309 people who tested positive for coronaviru­s have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 80,424.

Patients were aged between 21 and 101. All except 11 (aged 42 to 96) had known underlying health conditions.

Deaths are recorded as Covid-19 related where a person has died within 28 days of a positive test.

Across the UK on Wednesday, it was announced that 12,718 more people have tested positive for coronaviru­s, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 4,071,185.

South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust announced one Covid-related death yesterday, bringing the total number of deaths at the trust to 880, according to data released by NHS England.

In Sunderland, there were 92 new cases on February 17. The total number of cases since March is now 20,314, according to data from Public Health England.

Sunderland’s weekly case rate is 222.9 per 100,000 people.

The total number of cases recorded in seven days up to February 12 is 619.

Data for the most recent five days has been excluded as it is incomplete and may not reflect the true number of cases.

There are currently 180 Covid patients in hospital, 13 of them on ventilatio­n.

The total admissions is 3,186, based on the latest available informatio­n.
