‘Could these last 24 hours have been any better?’

-

It’s been an excellent few days for Sunderland fans, who are celebrating reaching a cup final and the completion of a takeover deal.

Kyril Louis-Dreyfus has become the club’s new chairman and controlling shareholder, after the EFL sanctioned the move.

Details of his exact shareholding in the club have not yet been revealed, with Stewart Donald, Charlie Methven and Juan Sartori all retaining a minority stake.

The news broke less than 24 hours after the Black Cats reached a Wembley final by beating Lincoln City in the semi-finals of the Papa John’s Trophy.

Here’s how some fans reacted after the takeover was announced...

@MichaelPotts73: Do this club proud, mate. Nowt flash, just end the circus.

@harrydays4: Well, this could be a very exciting era for the football club. Delighted.

@nick_a88: Great news! Let’s hope it’s all positive from here! Haway the lads!

@LisgoSkol: New era begins now...I’ll get behind them.

@MJacko1989: Reet, let’s get out of this division now!

@NUllah21: After years and years of everything going wrong. Something just feels different doesn't it. KLD, Speakman, LJ, Wyke scoring, Wembley, Geads looking happier than ever.

@joey__burton__: Could these last 24 hours possibly get any better?

@MrBaylissGeo: This can hopefully mean only good things, however I am concerned that the previous owners retain a stake in the club. I'm hoping that at some point Kyril can buy them out, however onwards and upwards.
