Coffee through the night
Canadian coffee giant Tim Hortons is seeking permission to open through the night at a planned store in Washington.
Planning chiefs at Sunderland City Council granted the firm permission to open an outlet at the vacant Frankie & Benny’s unit in the Galleries Retail Park in November 2020.
The process set opening hours for the new venture at 7am-11pm, Monday-Sunday.
But a separate application lodged with the city’s licensing department is now seeking a late night refreshment licence, which would allow it to continue trading for an extra six hours every day, from 11pm-5am.
The proposed outlet is expected to include outdoor seating, accessible parking, bicycle racks and a drive-thru lane.
