‘Schools have been lockdown lifeline’
It goes without saying that school staff have been a lifeline to Sunderland families during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Whether your children have been learning from home or able to attend class in person, they would have been lost without the support of their school’s staff during an academic year filled with ever-changing restrictions and uncertainty.
Every single member of staff involved in supporting our young people across Sunderland and beyond deserves our heartfelt thanks.
We asked you to shine a light on your child’s school, and tell us what they have done to help your family during the tough times.

Louise Dalzell: “Thorney Close Primary School. My son’s teachers have been brilliant, the school has done a great job during these lockdowns.
"Not only through teaching support but also offering technology to those that needed it with kit/WiFi access. Massive well done to head teacher Mrs Jones and all her teaching/support staff.”
Amanda Mather Bulmer: “Broadway Junior School. Amazing support to pupils and parents can’t thank them enough.”
